Martinique Travel Inspiration

HI Everyone,

Have you ever dreamed of eating croissants while sitting on the beach? Well, the French Caribbean island of Martinique is the place for you! Thanks to a Norwegian flight deal in March 2016, I was able to venture to the island for some much needed reprieve from Boston’s winter blues. (Note: That’s why the photos are not as high resolution; technology changes quickly!)

Why Go:

With a fantastic combination of a commanding volcano, sugar cane and banana fields, and white-sand beaches, Martinique is a special island that provides you the French culture without crossing the Atlantic. Mont Pelée hasn’t erupted since it wiped out the island in 1902 allowing the island to become a grand destination for hiking, cuisine, and relaxing. Even though most Americans are not familiar with the island, over one million visitors journey to the island each year, and I thoroughly enjoyed the lack of English-speaking tourists. Pro tip: Learn the essential French phrases as you’ll need it in local shops and restaurants.
